Victorian-Sired Black Type Wins (July)

During the quieter month of racing in July, Victorian-sired progeny prevailed with two successful stakes winners. Colmar (Strasbourg x Rapala) captured a thrilling Group 3 victory in the South Australian Sires’ Produce Stakes, while Recommendation (Shalaa (IRE) x Adviso (USA)) added another two accolades by winning the Group 3 Bletchingly Stakes and Group 3 Sir John Monash Stakes.

Recommendation (Shalaa (IRE) x Adviso (USA)

Victorian-sired Recommendation (ex Adviso) added another two accolades to his name by clinching the Group 3 Bletchingly Stakes and Group 3 Sir John Monash Stakes, marking a total of three stakes wins for the 2023/2024 season. The four-year-old bay gelding, bred by Pacific King Pty Ltd NSW when Shalaa was standing at Arrowfield Stud and trained by Ciaron Maher, has now secured his eighth career win out of 18 starts, accumulating A$842,785 in earnings. Having relocated to Woodside Park Stud from the 2023 breeding season, we’re happy to have Shalaa calling Victoria home now.


Colmar (Strasbourg x Rapala) 

Victorian-bred and -sired Colmar (ex Rapala) captured a thrilling Group 3 victory in the South Australian Sires’ Produce Stakes. This three-year-old gelding, bred by PT Thoroughbreds*, is trained by R. Daniel and T. Stanbury and owned by Ms. P. A. Stanbury. With nine starts under his belt, Colmar has secured three wins and four placings, amassing A$270,015 in career earnings.
