Last week TBV hosted over 30 delegates for its inaugural Victorian Breeders Forum at Mitchelton Winery. We heard from experts across a range of key topics relating to the thoroughbred breeding industry including:

  • Traceability, equine genetics and industry updates - Karen Day & Dr Natasha Hamilton from Racing Australia

  • Radiographic Lesions and Indication on Future Racing Performance - Dr. Angus Atkins & Dr Tom O’Brien, Avenel Equine Hospital

  • Breeding Nutrition - Dr. Peter Huntington, KER

  • Improving the detection of parasitic infections and control strategies of horses - Abdul Jabbar from the University of Melbourne

  • Endoscopy of the upper respiratory tract at Australian thoroughbred yearling sales - Dr Brian Anderson from Ballarat Veterinary Practice

  • Workcover explained & how can we manage it? - Georgie Ahern & Vito Katsanos from Howden

A big thank you to all our speakers, AgriFutures Australia, Howden and TBV's partners for their support on this event and we look forward to planning future educational events.

Should you have any suggestions of what types of topics you would like to learn about, we encourage you to email tbv@racingvictoria.net.au.
