Belle of the Showdown

For forty-one women at the start of 2022, little did they know what the next year and a bit would bring.

Croatian Belle (Brazen Beau x Croatian) has brought together forty-one women, most of whom knew very little or next to nothing about the joys of horse ownership.

An extensive social media campaign by Lindsay Park saw women of all diverse backgrounds show an interest to get involved.

The campaign headed by Lindsay Park’s Grace Ramage – Racing and Client Liason Manager and Jenny McAlpine to get women involved in racing from an educational perspective and to have some fun along the way, has been an experience of a lifetime for Croatian Belle’s owners.

Purchased for $130,000 at the 2022 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling sale out of the Baramul draft, Grace recounts that the filly grabbed their eye due to her sire but her type was a big factor for the Lindsay Park team.

“She looked tough, strong and she looked like a horse we would love to be training. We thought she might be a two-year-old but we also thought she had the scope to train on and be a nice three-year-old as well,” Ramage commented.

The other deciding factor for Ramage and the team, was the silver sticker she carried on her hip through the ring, which made her eligible to race for the lucrative VOBIS bonuses but the additional $7.5 million in VOBIS Sires Boost vouchers.

“Each and every time you see the sticker on the page, it is a real thing which we are able to sell back to our clients and earn VOBIS prizemoney in our hometown. That is a big reason as to why we purchased her,” Ramage said.

“The prizemoney she has won already is pretty mind blowing to be honest. From her two wins she has already had at The Valley which includes the additional VOBIS Sires Boost bonuses – she has won two $30,000 vouchers. No one is taking for granted all the additional bonuses we have won.

“It would have been a bit of a rush to get her to a Blue Diamond, after the Magic Millions but there is a great race called the Showdown, which is for VOBIS Sires eligible horses, for which we have a VOBIS Sired horse.”

At the time of print, Croatian Belle has amassed $371,166 in prizemoney and bonuses due to her being registered for the Magic Millions Women’s syndicate race series and her sire being a VOBIS Sire, which means she is eligible to win the additional $30,000 in VOBIS Sires Boost vouchers.

In keeping with the fun which the Croatian Belle girls have had so far, the forty-one ladies will be getting together at Melbourne Premier to be treated to a masterclass run by Lindsay Park on how to buy a racehorse and use their vouchers on another VOBIS Sires horse.

But the real fun will be on the Victorian Owners and Breeders race day when Croatian Belle lines up to take her star
