2021/22 TBV AWARDS NIGHT

Written Tycoon claimed top honours at Thursday night’s Thoroughbred Breeders Victoria Awards, named Victoria’s IRT Champion Sire for season 2021/22.

With in excess of $14 million in prize money earned from his progeny, the one-time Australian Champion Sire held off the likes of Rosemont’s Shamus Award and Swettenham Stud’s Toronado.

Rosemont Stud collected the prize of Victoria’s leading breeder with over $5 million in prize money across the season. Sponsored by TAB, Charlie Sprague was present to collect the award.

Victoria’s IRT Champion First Season Sire was won by Widden’s Gold Standard, siring Group One winner Sheeza Belter, while Rosemont’s 22-year-old Kate Young was the winner of the DMC Rising Star award.

Montefilia (TAB Champion Victorian Bred Racehorse) was recognised for her outstanding efforts on the track across the season, while her dam Bana Wu claimed the Avenel Victorian Broodmare of the Year prize.

Montefilia’s breeder, the late Geoff Russell was named KER & Barastoc Leading Victorian Small Breeder, with the award collected by Stephanie Grentell.

Blue Diamond Stakes winner Daumier gave Godolphin a second award for the night as the Inglis Champion 2YO while the Surewise Champion 3YO was awarded to multiple Group One place getter and multiple stakes winner Barb Raider.

Among other prize winner on the night were; Anthony & Sam Freedman (Racing Victoria VOBIS Trainer of the Year), Godolphin (Racing Victoria VOBIS Owner of the Year), and Kings Consort (Racing Victoria VOBIS Racehorse of the Year).



Kate Young was presented with the DMC Rising Star Award.
